My latest written work “The Bookmark Story” is the first issue of a magazine that summaries the interaction and the collaboration with a group of artists from all over the world, now known as Bookmark Artists Collective.
In the history of human beings, art always been our most beautiful creation. As said in the introduction, it could be the reason for us to contribute to and enrich the natural beauty of the nature. And artists have the right to do it. It is interesting how in this uncomfortable period, where everything was closed because of the lock down, media and technology became fundamental also for “helping” the art world.
Lots of performance houses, museums and galleries were very interactive, organizing videos, sharing older posts and having lots of online exhibitions.
Was it a sort of desperate scream, an SOS, a loud sentence that said: “We are still here, help us, look at us. We are still here!”? Maybe.
The social networks were sprouting artistic groups from all over the places and those groups were full of emergent or famous artists who were sharing their works proudly and almost with a heroic pride. “We still make art, and we have a reason for doing it”,they seemed to say!
An interesting article came up on the BBC News, dated 24th of April 2020. (Coronavirus:How artists are depicting the lockdown by Ella Wills). It analyses, discusses and quotes, the contributions of some contemporary famous artists such as Banksy, Gormley, Ward and others, who shared their works made during the lock down in a “series of online artist diaries” (Susan May) as a demonstration on how being forced to stay “at home”, actually can have a positive feedback in relation to creativity.
Thinking with a creative mind therefore, this crisis created an unusual “stretched time” that allowed artists to better and deeply produce lots of interesting artworks shared among social networks and galleries on line.Paradoxically, the meaning of loneliness had been modified in “creation time” and as probably never before, for artists, the word’s connotation, changed into solitude, that is the enjoyable and healthy time of being alone. As far as I am concerned, also the meaning of space changed. Again, paradoxically, the “lock down prison” represented by everyone’s own house, had positive implications, becoming an “artist’s residence” instead. As the artists in residence are committed to create and discuss their projects and works for a specific length of time in situ, so were the artists who worked in their homes during the lock down. But without a pre fixed time. Not really.
In my way of thinking art, almost as entity I should say, I strongly believe that art has its personal time, philosophically speaking and lots of art works created during this particular time, would have not been the same if created in any other time of our life.
Keeping this perception of the facts, in this hic et nunc , the Bookmark Workshop was conceived, built and developed.

WHO ARE THE BOOKMARK ARTISTS COLLECTIVE:
Bookmark Artist Collective is a vibrant, inspiring artists collective made by artists from all over the world. Born as a continuation of an online workshop “The Bookmark Workshop” initiated by Einad Moglad during the first international lockdown in our Covid-19 related time, the artists felt the need to keep this connection live and create something that will leave the mark in the cultural, artistic, and social environment. BAC has no borders and yet can move, work, create and build ideas and form of new types and processes of creation. After the first online exhibition “Rhythm of the Blue Marble” welcomed by Emergent Art Space’s platform, the Collective wanted to offer a new narrative to the world believing that this would increase and show its value as a group of individual artists merged into a Collective, who are an inspirational model for everyone.
The group shows a microcosm of a society where everyone needs one another in a common interdependence and provokes new inspiring ideas and ways of performing art and communications. The BAC’s creative thinking is developed by knowledge and passion performed with different mediums.
The Bookmark Artists Collective is strongly focused on global engagement and ideas and it shares the common effort to adjust, change, and stay together in order to share ideas, questions and doubts to better understand the present challenges in this world and re-establish the arts as an important player which takes a stand in society.
The Bookmark Artists Collective sees itself as an ongoing community which open its doors to artists, art lovers, intellectuals, scientists, and different people who share common vision and can commit to meet and be part of a working creative group in the service of our Blue Marble.
